The weapon is equipped with a percussion plate called “forward” with a hollow-headed hammer to strike the primers. The trigger is straight under oval bridge and brass finger rest.

The walnut butt known as "English style" is complete with a box with a slide starter carrying a plate of bone, covered with an animal drawing (bird).

The counter plate is made of brass just like the backing buttplate.

The inside of the primer box bears a handwritten inscription that could be “T J L n v 834” it could be Thiermay J. whose name is only inscribed on the plate.

This gunsmith from Liège, reported as early as 1780, could not be better identified. (Appeal to more informed readers)
