Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Speder Jacques

Voilà un autre pistolet à silex à canon tromblonné, mais cette fois le système est placé dans l'axe du canon.

Pour celui-ci, comme pour le précédent, il n'y a qu’un seul marquage, Speder à Liège.

Speder Jacques

Flintlock pistol with flared barrel. Silver wire inlays in the wood, buttplate figures a sea lion head.

Only one marking "Speder à Liège". Jacques Speder was active in Liège between 1797 and 1811. The lack of acceptance proof stamp is correct, since the proof (introduced 1672) was not compulsary until 1810.

The frizzen spring is quite different from the common vee-springs of the time.

GP with the much appreciated help of MAX and PHL.
