Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

SMETS J.L.

Revolver of pocket hammerless known as “Uneven”.

The trigger without trigger guard is folding in a small housing under the frame.

The grips are obviously not origin, the screws are guilloched and the entirety of the weapon carries a floral engraving in copper-plate engraving. (See illustration)

SMETS JL is an engraver contemporary of Liège who worked for great names of arms manufacture of Liège in particular LEBEAU-COURALLY. (See illustration in appendix)

The engravers of Liège were many at the beginning of the 20th century in Liege and all did not leave an outstanding memory. To announce that no list of engravers of Liège have never seems it be elaborate. We find them, like here, randomly of a signature on a weapon.

The absence of punches (those of the proof house of Liege probably) visible in theory on the barrel and/or the cylinder, prevents me from going further in the identification of this weapon.
