Simonis Bertrand & Fils

It is about a pistol with top break called “Scottish” or “Brazilian”. The rifled bores are juxtaposed, the gauge was not communicated. The weapon is with central percussion with external hammers. An oscillating bolt is placed under the barrels, by actuating this one, the weapon opens to the bottom and releases the access to the back of the barrels for the loading/unloading.

The stick (not presented) was often in the banana shape, squared or not. It often ended in a ring and its screw-pivot.

The trigger guard is with rest-finger.

The weapon presents on its surface, the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

ELG on star in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.

T and UA spangled: countermarks of the controllers post 1877.

EL in English letters: provisional test, of use of 1852 to our days.

R crowned: rifled bores, of use of 1894 to 1968.

Peron: inspection post 1853.

The weapon also presents on a metal amount of the stick, mark SBF Bte, who is the mark of association Simonis, Bertrand & Fils.
