Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Niquet Jean Claude

This is a flintlock gun with black powder. The barrel is 8-sided, the front sight seems missing?

A steel rod with a brass head is slid under the barrel. The brass counterplate is also fixed by means of two screws. The trigger guard is also made of brass as is the buttplate.

The S-shaped hammer has a pierced jaw screw. The lock is front type!

This lock is marked J.C. Niquet à Liège: it is the brand of the Liège manufacturer.

The mark struck on the barrel represents a rectangle with several holes. This brand also has what appears to be a head and two upright arms, but that’s my personal interpretation.?? I don’t know what it means, maybe it’s a brand of manufacturer of barrels?
