Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Nikitis Erben

It is the Liège copy of a COLT Navy 1851. It is unfortunately badly damaged and some of the brands are very hard to read.

The weapon bears the following markings:

Address Col. Samuel COLT NEW-YORK USA: this is probably a brand invented in Liège to make it more true.

32 Caliber: so well read? Caliber of the gun.

Unreadable ARMS C°: unreadable mark.

20 918: gun number.

F* and C*: countersigns of the Liège test bench inspectors. I think I also saw a Q* to be classified in the event markings.

J N E between crossed arrows: trademark ? In any event, it could belong to the Austro-Turkish colts dealer from Liège type Brooklyn-Bridge Nikitis Erben (1860/1880).

NN + what appears to be a flower: ???
