Here a rifle of the type Comblain 1870 used by the civic Guard. Calibre 11X50R.

The photographs sent do not enable us to identify the punches, except a ELG on asterisk in an oval, for acceptance between 1846 and 1893.

Certain parts like the screws and the rise were turned blue, whereas they were polished white in the beginning.

Are there numbers and letter(s) on the buttplate? If so, it could be a question of a weapon used by the civic Guard. When the rifle was replaced after 1882 by a longer rifle with steel cylinder head, much of rifles 1870 were yielded, either with arms manufacturers, or at shooting clubs which offered them like price of shooting at the time of contest.

We alas do not have any data on the CH arms manufacturer. Urchin in Brussels. According to other weapons marked with its name, It had to be active in second half of the 19th century. It is not in any case active any more in 1911.
