Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Drissen A. & Fernand

This revolver is simply a DRISSEN revolver manufactured on the basis of patent # 32.295 registered on 23.09.73 by A.DRISSEN gun manufacturer in Liege . (See appendix)

This patent only concerns the “TOP BREAK” lever opening/locking system and we can think that the rest of the gun is based on the WEBLEY-PRICE system, but that remains to be proven.

The partially illegible mark is in fact A.DRISSEN Brevete.

The FD in a lozenge is the stamp of Fernand(inand) DRISSEN (a relative?) gun manufacturer in LIEGE, 10 rue Forgeur, and registered with the Liege proofhouse from 1874 to 1900.

The stamps belong of course to this same proofhouse, namely:

STAR/ ELG in a crowned oval: final acceptance used of 1846 to 1893.

STAR/U and S : counter marks of the controllers post 1877.

This gun patented in 1874 was manufactured between 1877 and 1893.

May I suggest you to read my article published on this subject in  LA GAZETTE DES ARMES n° 393 on December 2007.
