Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Warnant Emile & Jamar Michel

Here is a nice hammerless velodog revolver, safely (I don't see its usefulness given the "force" needed to trigger the trigger... but that's it...), in a very good condition. Collapsible release, ejecting rod of the sockets.

We see the initials EW under asterisks and smaller MJ, and the number 11.

Members of the team agree to attribute EW to Emile WARNANT, already mentioned on the site.

MJ is assigned – with reservations – to Michel JAMAR.

But who would have done what? Let's go to Emile duly identified.

Markings

ELG on star in crowned oval: accepted by the Liège Test Board between 11 July 1893 and 26 February 1968;

Lion on PV: powder test between 4 October 1898 and 26 February 1968;

L under crown: already often encountered but not identified

R crowned: striped cannon, between 1894 and 1968;

AE under a star: countermark of a controller, between 1877 and 1968.
