Nagant 1878/86 Customs

This Nagant revolver model 1878/86 was adopted by the Belgian Customs.

The only difference with the original model is the difference in the design of the cylinder. Longitudinal grooves are replaced by elliptical grooves. The eight-blade barrel has four rifled on the right and a half-moon front sight. Like model 1878/86, the grips are made of walnut and are attached to the carcass by a cross screw.

Its length is 266 mm, its weight is 1Kg90 and the caliber is 9 mm.

The markings are as follows:

Douane Belge (Belgian Customs) identifying the body of origin.

Brevet Nagant: identifying the manufacturer i.e. the Nagant brothers in Liège.

EGB in a vertical oval + star: brand of the Belgian government, proof of the Manufacture d’Armes de l’Etat rue saint Léonard in Liège.

JD in a horizontal oval and crowned: initials of the Belgian government controller.

Double L crowned in a circle: L interlaced, brand of the Belgian government.

510: number of the weapon.

Small "P" in a circle : stamp of a state controller.
