Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

The weapon

Revolver hammerless tiny to central percussion and box frame. Its gauge is 320 with a barrel with 5 rooms. The trigger without trigger guard right and is swell. It is folded up under the carcass. The rifled bore is round with front sight in half-moon. The rod placed under the barrel swivels on an axis and perhaps introduced in turn into the rooms to dislodge the casings of them. The loading is done by a right side door dropping thanks to the action of an internal spring. The stick consists of two plates out of squared wooden maintained by a central screw and two rivet washers.

Punches

The weapon carries the punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

Spangled ELG in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.

C spangled: countermark of the controller, of use of 1877 to our days.

R crowned: rifled bore, of use of 1894 to 1968.

Marks

Crowned JK: mark of factory of Jules KAUFMANN & Co, manufacturer of weapons street of Augustins, 26 in Liege and which was registered with the proofhouse of 1890 to 1914.

On this date, the company becomes the Manufacture d’armes LEPAGE.

KAUFMANN Jules then street Jonfosse, 127 in Liege becomes the administrator of company LEPAGE. He deposited 3 patents of 1890 to 1896 and 5 trademarks.

9687: serial number.

Marks on the top of the console representing BT and perhaps 75? between two accodances bus challenges me not only it is difficult to decipher but it is also unknown for me.

Appendix: a page of catalog LEPAGE presenting a similar weapon although 6mmvélodog gauges some.

It is obviously about a pistol of shooting and/or stand with rocker.

Rocking is practiced using a snap placed under the barrel.

The weapon carries the punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

Spangled ELG in an oval: acceptance, of use of 1846 to 1893.

R spangled: countermark of the controller, of use of 1877 to our days.

The weapon was thus manufactured between 1877 and 1893.

It also carries a mark of crowned manufacturer JK whom I think, like Philippe, capacity to allot to Jules KAUFMANN & Cie, manufacturer of weapons street of Augustins, 26 in Liege and which was registered with the proofhouse of 1890 to 1914.

On this date, the company becomes the Manufacture d’armes LEPAGE.

KAUFMANN Jules street Jonfosse, 127 in Liege was the administrator of company LEPAGE.

He deposited 3 patents of 1890 to 1896 and 5 trademarks.

I am unaware of the significance of JO, perhaps acts it of a mark of workshop?
