The marks "AF"
on the barrel, and "AF
crowned" on the frame are obviously two
marks of this famous house.
The
symmetrical insertion of golden nails was a great speciality of Liège craftsmen.
The ELG*
mark in a vertical oval, which is the definitive acceptance, in use from 1846 to
1893 gives us a date of manufacture prior to July 11, 1893.
The mention "E. Lefaucheux inv patenté" indicates that Auguste Francotte paid royalties to Lefaucheux.
