Comblain Crusher

Pressure measurement system of a munition.

Modification of a Comblain for each calibre (it was necessary to wait for the BMCI (Bloc Manometer with interchangeable barrels) and the Universal Receiver to have a multi-calibre system by changing the barrel (around 1960).

This one was intended for ammunition 5.7 VeloDog.

The measurement of the maximum pressure of a cartridge has been carried out until recently, by measuring the compression of a piece of electrolytic Cu (crusher) and by reference to this value on a table established by batch of crushers by static tests.

The cartridge case is pierced and covered with greased fabric to minimize gas leakage.
