Shotgun to central percussion of type top lever of gauge 12.
The two unrifled bores are juxtaposed.
Locks are of type “ahead” with hammers external and key of opening between those.
The stick in wood (walnut tree?) is cut type pistol.
Punches
The weapon carries the lawful and obligatory punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:
ELG on star in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.
Peron: inspection post 1852.
EL in English letters: provisional test, of use of 1852 to our days.
12C in a rhombus: gauge, of use of 1898 to 1924.
CHOKE 18.2 18.5: chokes barrels - gauged in mm to 22 cm of the breech and the mouth. In use of 1898 to 1910.
L and T spangled: (read so well) countermarks of the controllers post 1877.
Markings
H. PIEPER Bté: marking indicating that this weapon was patented by Henri Pieper, manufacturer of weapons (1840/1898) street of Bayard, 12 in LIEGE.
ECLIPSE COMPANY: mark of factory deposited the 10.04.1896 by the same Henri Pieper.
BELGIUM: indicate the origin of the weapon to fine advertising executives. Belgium, at the time, is famous for its weapons in the whole world.
