The weapon

It is about a double shotgun to central percussion. The unrifled bores of gauge 12 are laminated steel. The rebounding locks are of type “ahead”. The system of opening is of “Top Lever”?

The worked stick “pistol” is out of wood of walnut.

Punches

They are the lawful punches of the proofhouse of tests of Liege, namely:

ELG on star in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.

Peron: inspection, of use of 1853 to our days.

Z spangled: countermark of the controller post 1877.

EL in English letters: provisional test, of use of 1852 to our days.

12C in a rhombus: gauge, of use of 1898 to 1924.

CHOKE 18.1 18.2: chokes barrels: gauged in mm to 22 cm of the breech and the mouth. In use of 1898 to 1910.

Marks

ECLIPSE COMPANY: it is about a trade mark the 10.04.1896 by manufacturer PIEPER Henri, street of Bayards in LIEGE.

D crowned: mark of the manufacturer of gun DELCOUR to NESSONVAUX.

LAMINATED STEEL BELGIUM: type of steel used.

N° 5212A: probably the serial number of the weapon unless that is not 3420 also struck the weapon.

HP - 12 - GB: perhaps does ignored significance, it act of subcontractors?

The stick in wood (walnut tree?) is cut type pistol.

H. PIEPER Bté: marking indicating that this weapon was patented by Henri Pieper, manufacturer of weapons (1840/1898) street of Bayard, 12 in LIEGE.

ECLIPSE COMPANY: mark of factory deposited the 10.04.1896 by the same Henri Pieper.

BELGIUM: indicate the origin of the weapon to fine advertising executives. Belgium, at the time, is famous for its weapons in the whole world.
