Maes & Waltery

It is a central percussion shotgun with a single barrel. This one is 8-sided. His calibre is unknown. This barrel is equipped with a cursor line of sight divided into several distances.

The percussion system is a “falling block” type.

The weapon as a whole exhibits attic rust and numerous stings.

The cheek and hook stock is broken.

The weapon bears the statutory hallmarks of the Liège proofhouse, namely:

ELG* in a vertical oval: accepted in use from 1846 to 1893.

H*: Controller’s countermark, in use from 1877 to 1968.

The weapon bears the trademark of its manufacturers, Maes & Walthery, active at Liège between 1878 and 1879. They are the authors of two patents:

046 394 of 17.10.1878 for a cartridge gun.

048 370 of 31.05.1879 for a spring lift.
